Easy peasy to make delicious chocolate chip cookies.
Made with fair trade ingredients. They are a great learning tool to educate kids on ethical goods and social enterprise as well as equipping them with practical cookery, maths and science skills. Of course they are suitable for big kids too.
MAKES 8 MEGA COOKIES
Kit contains chocolate, caster Sugar, brown sugar, ground oats, plain flour, salt, baking powder, bicarbonate soda
PREP TIME 15 MINS. DOUGH RESTING TIME 24HRS. BAKING TIME 10 MINS
YOU WILL NEED
2 baking trays
Baking tin paper liner
Wooden spoon / spatula
HOW TO MAKE
.Weigh butter and add to saucepan to melt on hob
.Add the bag of brown and white sugar to the mixing bowl
.Once the butter has melted, remove from heat and mix with the sugar
.Add in 1 egg and mix until combined
.Gradually mix in the other bag of ingredients
.Cover / put into a container and leave in fridge for 1hr (builds flavour)
.Pre heat oven to 180oC and remove cookie dough from the fridge.
.Line baking trays with paper liner and then use a spoon to transfer the mix to trays. Roll into balls.
(60g of mix make one 10cm cookies. You can get about 4 on a tray. Make sure you spread out well on the trays as the mix does expand)
(If you don’t want to use the entire mix it can be refrigerated and used in a few days time)
.Bake for 12 mins/until cookies with look golden.
.Once cooked remove from oven. Transfer to a plate and allow to cool and crisp.
.Cookies keep fresh longer in a plastic/glass container kept in a fridge. Ensure cookies are completely cool before putting in container.
